Sponsor Me

Hello dance students, old and new.
As of November 10th, I'll be traveling nationally and abroad for dance work, training, personal exploration and time out from my regular life. This is more than just a vacation or an extended trip. It's a fact-finding mission of sorts.

While I'll be focusing on building my expertise as a dance instructor, I'll also be learning from my students, my peers, and my mentors. I'll be asking myself the hard questions about dance, and life, and testing theories to see how much of my expertise holds up.

Although it might seem that I'm abandoning my local scene here in Chicago to be gone for such a long time, part of my goal is to grow as a person and as an instructor, so that when I return in the spring, I have better offerings in the form of regular classes, workshops for newbies, high-level practice sessions for the experienced dancers, and more effective private lessons.

So, I'm seeking your sponsorship. There are two forms of sponsorship that you can partake in.

1) Batch purchase of private-lesson blocks, or group-class blocks.

My current private lesson rate is $60 per hour, and most classes I offer cost $45 per 4-hour series. In the spring, I *may* raise my rates, depending on what the market will bear. But, I'm offering discounted batches from my current rate, regardless of price increases in the spring.

The pricing is simple:
2 or more private lessons for $50 per hour.
     Spend $100, get 2 lessons. Spend $400, get 8.
4-hour class blocks for $40, no matter how late you register.
Spend $80, get a block of a weekly class or a weekend workshop. Or, mix up your class blocks with private lessons. You can use the credit however you wish. Leftover funds get put towards your next class, private, or practice session.

You have 18 months from the date of purchase to use your funds. So, if you are in San Francisco this winter and want to take a private lesson, no problem. Otherwise, you'll have just a little over a year from my date of return (April 2nd) to use your credit.

Select the "Donate" button below. (But don't worry, this is really your sponsorship.) You'll have the chance to add in a message to me if you want to specify the kind of block you want to purchase, or decide later.

    Alternate steps:
  1. Email me the amount you'd like to purchase.
  2. Paypal the amount (using your paypal account, credit or debit card) to dance [at] ruby-red.com. If you're unfamiliar with paypal, I'll send you an invoice that helps automate the process.
  3. I'll send you a receipt with the amount of your credit, and we'll update it every time you use it.

Your sponsorship goes towards your education and helps me purchase the training I need this winter.

2) Subscribe to the Dance Letter.

2-3 times a week, I'll be writing extended blog posts as they relate to my travels, studies and questions. These are personal posts, that dive into the most complex aspects of my own learning experience. I'm sharing my process with you in a way that I'm not as likely to do on a public blog. You are welcome to correspond with me related to these posts, knowing that the things you bring up may be addressed in the next letter.

The cost of the subscription is $25 per month, for a minimum of 8 letters. The letter begins on December 1st. Until then, you can read the introductions to the letters—more abbreviated posts that I'm comfortable sharing with the world to get an idea of the content.

How to do it:
